About Cleansui

Cleansui’s unique hollow fibre membrane technology, developed by Mitsubishi Rayon Cleansui, ensures that contaminants including 99.99% of bacteria are removed while allowing beneficial minerals to remain in the water.

Rather than buying lots of bottles of mineral water, people are increasingly looking to use filtered tap water as their main source of drinking water. Not only does it provide health benefits, it also saves money and is kinder to the environment.

Cleansui: A package of different technologies

Cleansui's original proprietary filtration system ensures the high level of performance. The unique and advanced filtration system uses a combination of filtering net, non-woven fabric, ceramics (and/or) ion exchange fibres, activated carbon with hollow fibre membrane filters:

  1. Net, non-woven fabric: Removes sediment and larger particles.

  2. Ceramics (and/or) ion exchange fibres: Removes soluble lead apart from other contaminants. (Note: certain filters that include ion exchange fibres remove lime scale).

  3. Anti-bacterial activated carbon: Reduces unpleasant odours, chlorine and mould and also successfully removes CAT (pesticides, herbicides) and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) such as total trihalomethanes (chloroform, bromodichloromethane, dibromochloromethane, bromoform), tetrachloroethylene, trichloroethylene, 1,1,1-trichloroethane, etc.

  4. Hollow fibre membrane: The core competence of Cleansui is the hollow fibre membrane, made from ultra-fine polyethylene. The sidewalls can remove particles as minute as 0.1 micrometer from water, including bacteria, algae, fungi, micro-organisms, cysts, cryptosporidium, and metal particles such as rust, lead etc.

Whilst removing potentially harmful substances (depending on the filter chosen), the Cleansui filters still allow the end product (filtered drinking water) to retain its beneficial nutrients and minerals.
